Ordering a laptop from USA to Kuwait via DHL EasyShop

I recently bought a laptop from the Dell USA official website and shipped it to Kuwait via DHL EasyShop freight forwarding service. I will share with you some of my experiences and tips which might help you if you choose to do the same.

• It is only worth it if you get a really good deal or if the product is not available locally. The estimate shown in the DHL calculator is not accurate. You'll certainly end up paying more than that.
• Most websites don't ship to freight forwarding addresses as they are against this. My orders were automatically canceled by many shops. Avoid mentioning DHL in your suite address. Some websites don't accept your international cards.
• If everything goes right and you manage to order something to your suite address, there is still a reason to be worried. There is a sort of grey area between the time when the package is delivered to the DHL suite address and it is updated in their system. Let's say the package you ordered was delivered today at 1:00 PM. They might not update this until the next day morning. But your package will be shown as delivered on the website which you bought it from. There is no way of knowing if it's the DHL representative who received the order or some thief made away with your order on your behalf. There have been many cases reported like this where the package was delivered by the seller but never received by the freight forwarding company.  The freight forwarding company will deny any responsibility and say the item never came and so they are helpless. The seller, on the other hand, will say it was delivered yesterday and how come you didn't inform them about this before. If at all you mention the freight forwarding service, they will outright say that it is against their policy to ship something to a freight forwarder! But, what if you play along and say something else? They will ask you to file a police complaint to issue a replacement. This is where it gets interesting, You are not even physically available in the US/UK and how in the world do you file a police complaint? Some police departments may accept a complaint online but it's a hurdle on its own.
• Thankfully, my package was received by DHL promptly. However, the delivery guy from FedEx did not even get a signature or a photo of the person to whom he delivered it to. I got a notification from FedEx that my package has been delivered but when I checked for proof of delivery, there was nothing! I had to wait one painful day to get the status on the DHL EasyShop website.
• Once it has been updated on the website, there is nothing to worry about. They will open the package and check for any damages and upload the photos on their website. You can make the payment using your Debit/Credit card and release the shipment. Make sure the declared amount is correct.
• It'll normally be shipped on the same day and will reach Kuwait in a day. However, it will take 4-5 days for customs clearance. Also, once it is shipped, DHL EasyShop's role will be over. You'll have to contact DHL support in Kuwait for further queries. Even though DHL EasyShop is also a subsidiary of DHL, they act as 2 different entities. Calling the DHL Kuwait support might expedite the customs clearance process. You don't have to pay any additional charges for the clearance process as this is already included in your shipping charge.
• Make sure that the item you buy can work with 240V. Some US electronic items come with a 120V power supply and there have been cases of these being stopped by customs.
• Shipping a lithium battery or any battery for that matter separately is not allowed.
